If you feel restless, fed up, bored, depressed even, then perhaps God has led you to this page.
There is an epidemic of depression surging through the Western World. People have more luxuries than ever before, shop until they drop and eat until they feel sick, even gluttony is no longer frowned upon. We are all encouraged to live and indulge to our heart’s content. Unfortunately, our hearts are not content. Neither are our souls.
Human beings were made to worship.
Accept this fact for now and think what do I worship?
Food?
Clothes?
A celebrity?
Work?
Fitness?
Your child?
Netflix?
My boyfriend?
Myself?
What do you spend most time thinking about?
What do you spend most of your time doing?
That should give you a clue as to what you worship if you are not sure.
Why is this unfulfilling?
Because whatever you choose in this world is never enough and will never be perfect.
What did Jesus say to the woman at the well?
“But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
JOHN 4:14 (NIV)
What does this mean?
I will give you water so that you will never be thirsty again. How is this possible?
Either Jesus was a liar, or this is true.
So what did he mean?
I think he meant I will satiate your spirit. Only through worshipping the one and only true God will you ever be satisfied.
How do we allow God into our lives so that our spirits maybe satiated?
There are two ways to communicate with God:
1. Through prayer
2. Through reading the bible
A simple prayer can start – Please God help me. Please God rescue me. Please God show me what you want for my life.
God’s answer is there if you choose to look. His word is in the Bible and the more you study scripture the closer you will feel to God. The more you listen to his teachings the more loved you will feel. The more you read the Bible the stronger and more content you will feel. You will feel secure and loved. You will want to follow God’s laws. You will understand that they are written for our good not his. Yu will seek him out and you will no longer feel restless and fed up. Life will become joyful and full of meaning. The Holy Spirit will guide and support you.
Try it. What have you got to lose? Only your dissatisfaction. Mick Jagger was right when he sang “ I can’t get no satisfaction” he just didn’t understand why.
An eternal truth
